The Heat Is On
This is the time of the year when we get areas of low pressure that slam into the West Coast. . .they tend to give us cooler temperatures, sometimes some scattered showers. . .and then they move on. Following these areas of low pressure, as high pressure fills in you're likely to see some blustery winds - sometimes Santa Ana conditions - and most definitely that offshore flow that really warms things up.
This past weekend, we had the cooler weather. Some light rain was around, too - kind of nice! Now, the high pressure that is following this system is bringing some much warmer weather today. The warmest day of the rest of the week should be tomorrow - when it gets into the upper 90s inland. We don't have the really strong winds, at least not now, so that's good news in terms of our fire season.
Look for cooler weather as onshore flow returns Thursday and Friday. Temperatures in the afternoon will be back to normal for this time of year. Then the upcoming weekend - could bring some windy weather.
Matt Baylow is the Chief Meteorologist for KFMB-TV, and you can catch his weather forecasts each weeknight at 5pm, 630pm, and 11pm on San Diego's only weathercasts broadcast in High Definition. There's never been a "clearer" weather forecast, if you can get past the hair that's out of place. And sometimes the pattern on the tie. Did we mention the tie?
